The new 2018 Honda Odyssey is the most accommodating and family-focused minivan on the market. Redesigned for this model year, this all-new Honda minivan is practical for any family, large or small, and it drives and handles with the grace of a less beefy crossover. Is it perfect for your brood? Yes. Why are we so confident? Because we’ve seen the 2018 Odyssey in action, and it’ll blow you away, too.
These are a Few of Our Favorite Things (about the 2018 Odyssey)
The 2018 model carries over several features that were consumer favorites in earlier models, such as the built-in HondaVAC vacuum, a high-quality sound system, a rearview camera, and a touchscreen monitor. But what newfangled gizmos and gadgets can potential buyers find?
Magic Slide 2nd Row Seating
The new Magic Slide seating system allows the 2nd-row seats to not only slide forward and backward, but also side to side. Two people now have the option of sitting shoulder to shoulder instead of having an invisible partition in the middle, or they can be positioned as bucket seats with an open middle area. Tilt the seats forward and closer to the front row, and Mom and Dad will have unfettered access to the kiddos in the mid-row.
Now standard in the Odyssey is Honda Sensing, which is made up of safety and driver-assistive technologies designed to keep the driver alert, even if the driver isn’t being particularly “alert.” One of the best features of Honda Sensing is the Lane Keeping Assist System, which helps the vehicle steer straight and stay in the middle of a lane. The Road Departure Mitigation System uses small cameras to see road markers and alert the driver when the vehicle is beginning to leave the roadway, then adjusts the steering wheel to correct course. Adaptive Cruise Control and Collision Mitigation Braking are also included.
CabinWatch and CabinTalk
An in-cabin camera displays action from the backseat onto the touchscreen monitor in the front, and the camera even has night vision to help keep an eye on the kids in the dark. With a touch of a button, the driver’s voice can be broadcasted through the rear speakers and connected headphones to convey messages to those watching a movie on the rear entertainment system.
Built-In 4G LTE Wi-Fi
The 2018 Honda Odyssey can now be turned into a mobile hotspot! By paying a nominal monthly fee, you and your family will receive built-in Wi-Fi vis-à-vis a cell data connection. Press a button and you can stream video content to the rear seat entertainment system.
Clean up that Miami Beach sand, old French fries, and frayed ponytail holders with ease. The HondaVAC is and always will be the first built-in minivan vacuum, and there’s no disputing that.
Passengers of the 2018 Honda Odyssey can control the cabin’s audio system, rear entertainment system, and rear climate controls from their smartphones by using the CabinControl app. Music can be sent from any connected phone straight to the minivan’s set playlist, and destinations can be delivered to the navigation system.
The How Much Farther App
“Are we there yet?” You won’t have to worry about hearing those words anymore because the new How Much Farther app will let rear passengers know how close they are to their destination. The How Much Farther app is connected to the Odyssey’s navigation system and counts down time and distance on an animated screen to subdue all those obnoxious (but loving) questions.
The 2018 Honda Odyssey is loaded with ways to make your trips more comfortable and efficient. Some other amazing features include Bluetooth and USB connectivity, power driver’s seat, push-button start, automatic climate control, and a hands-free power tailgate.
