How To Chill Out In Orange County This Summer

The country has been scorching and the summer’s really heating up here in Orange County. The area’s been the grip of several sweltering heat waves, and people are looking to cool off any way they can. So what are some of the many ways you can chill out in OC when the thermometer is ready to blow its top? Here are some suggestions from your friends at Simpson Buick GMC of Buena Park.

Head To A Theme Park – This may be a bit odd to suggest, but you can bet folks will be flocking to Knott’s Soak City Waterpark at Knott’s Berry Farm. A family favorite for splashing, swimming, and all sorts of aquatic fun, Soak City offers cabana rentals and such waterlogged attractions as Banzai Falls, the Laguna Storm Water Tower, and Malibu Run to name a few. And if you trek to Disneyland this summer (yes those pesky relatives are in town again), you can cool off on Pirates of the Caribbean, Grizzly River Run, It’s A Small World, Splash Mountain…well, you get the idea. Just remember: “Dead men tell no tales!”

Your Exclusive Sneak Peak At The New 2017 Buick Enclave

Lower gas prices and the benefits of more cargo and passenger capacity are but a couple of the reasons why the midsize SUV market is red hot with no signs of cooling off anytime soon.

New Sport Touring Edition Debuts

One of the more popular SUVs in this crowded field is the new 2017 Buick Enclave. The Enclave blends practicality, luxury, performance, and advanced safety features in a refined and elegant package. The 2017 version adds a new Sport Touring Edition that’s distinguished by a new Satin Black ice-toned “waterfall” grille, a new “ice blue” interior, three new color choices, and bespoke 20″ chrome cast aluminum sport wheels with Satin Black accents. Otherwise, the 2017 Enclave remains largely unchanged from the 2016 model. After all, why mess with success?

Distracted Driving Awareness Month

Watch the news on any given evening and you might hear stories like “The Dangers of GMOs” or “What’s in Your Dinner Tonight Might Just Kill You.” Now hopefully what was in your dinner tonight did not actually end up killing you, but we’re at a point in our society where we have become hyper-aware of every single health hazard or endangerment of our well being.

People protest pesticides, consumerism, and animal rights. They march for positive body image, equal wages, and religious freedom, and rightfully so. When people feel that their rights or their life are in danger, they try to take action and do something about it. One cause that doesn’t receive nearly enough attention is distracted driving, and the explanation as to why is simple.

Although distracted driving is responsible for around 5,000 deaths every year according to AAAFoundation.com, there are no social movements, protests or marches dedicated to fixing the problem. To us here at Simpson Buick GMC of Buena Park, your preferred new GMC dealer in Buena Park, California, the reason is clear. Nobody is standing up against one of the most common killers of teen drivers in America because almost everyone has been guilty of distracted driving at some point in their lives and many drive while distracted on a daily basis. Debuting the 2017 GMC Acadia

In 2014, Kelley Blue Book awarded its prestigious Brand Image Award to GMC for being the most refined brand on the market. Since then GMC hasn’t looked back, producing some of the highest quality vehicles on the road. The 2017 Acadia, for example, is set for production this spring and represents the 2nd generation of the highly successful GMC SUV.

Previous Acadia models were lauded by consumers and critics alike for the SUV’s attention to detail, elegance and performance, so expectations are extremely high for the 2017 model, and it certainly does not disappoint. We here at Simpson Buick GMC of Buena Park, your local dealer of New Buick and GMC Models in Anaheim, California, are thrilled to present to you the all-new 2017 GMC Acadia.

2017-GMC-Acadia

Refinement in Excess

Offered in three separate trims, SLT, Denali and All-Terrain, the 2017 GMC Acadia is made slightly smaller and much lighter than its predecessors, reclassifying itself as a mid-size SUV rather than a full-size. Each trim has its own identity, allowing customers to customize their vehicle with the exact features they want to fit their lifestyle.

The SLT trim represents the base model, yet still comes with the stunning re-imagined exterior design and professionally-styled interior. Standard features include a refined 7-inch touch monitor with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, active noise cancellation technology for a smoother, quieter ride, and a 2nd-row pullout console that offers added convenience for any passengers riding in the back seats.

2017-gmc-acadia-technology

Upgrade to the Denali trim to include luxurious features like the hands-free power liftgate, signature chrome accents on the grill, door handles, exhaust tips and roof rails, and high intensity LED headlamps that light up even the darkest roads. The Denali trim also offers consumers an available dual skyscape sunroof, heated leather steering wheel, driver and passenger seats, and real wood interior accents, for the tasteful professional.

The All-Terrain trim includes all standard features, but is designed for a more active lifestyle with seating for five, increased storage compartments, black chrome accents, and the highly-coveted advanced all-wheel drive system that is perfect for all off-road and inclement driving conditions.

The 2017 Acadia SLT and Denali trims are made with seating for up to seven, accompanied by significantly increased comfort and performance measures. Each row of seating offers more space to stretch over the previous year, available USB ports for phone charging, and the center console comes with an available wireless charging station so that you can stay connected without the clutter of wires.

The 2017 Acadia was built with a lighter, high-strength steel that not only makes the vehicle more maneuverable and agile, but also helps with acceleration. It is safe to say that the 2017 Acadia is well-suited to continue the strong GMC tradition of refinement and excellence, but to really see the value of the newest addition to the GMC family, you will need to test drive it yourself.

El Niño 2015 Automotive Survival Guide

Meteorologists predict that this year the West Coast will experience a “super” El Niño; perhaps one of the strongest on record. Warmer ocean currents create much wetter storm systems and the potential for torrential downpours. We’ve already seen this happen recently with heavy rainstorms causing flooding and damaging mudslides in many areas of Southern California.

Because of the severe drought, many Southern Californians aren’t used to driving in all this wet weather. It’s no secret that highway accidents multiply exponentially when the rain starts falling. That’s why it’s more important than ever to prepare your vehicle for the coming onslaught of a far wetter than normal winter.el-nino-hits-california

At Simpson Buick GMC, your go-to new and used car Buick GMC dealership in Orange County, we believe in the adage “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” For this reason, we’ve come up with the following ways you can prepare your Buick, GMC, or another vehicle for this year’s predicted El Niño super storms.

The Four “Bs” Of Getting Your Car Ready For El Niño:

Blades – Good windshield wiper blades are a must when the rain starts pouring. If your wiper blades are streaking, skipping, or have worn/split rubber, replace them with genuine AC/Delco wiper blades to make sure they are up to the task of keeping your windshield clean and your visibility clear. Take the time to top off your windshield washer fluid reservoir. We stock genuine GM wiper blades especially made for your Buick or GMC here at our Simpson Buick GMC Service & Parts Department. We’ll also be happy to install them for you.

Battery – You don’t want to be stranded in a downpour with a dead battery. Inspect the battery posts and cables for corrosion and clean if necessary. If you’re finding it harder to start your car, have your battery, starter, and alternator checked by one of our GM-certified technicians here at Simpson Buick GMC to ensure that they are operating correctly.

Belts & Hoses– A shredded serpentine belt or blown radiator hose could leave you stranded. Over time, rubber loses its pliability, becoming hard and brittle. Look for cracks or shiny spots in belts. The same goes for hoses, which go bad from the inside out. Inspect for spongy, brittle, or bulging areas. Our technicians are trained to spot and correct these issues before they become a problem.

Brakes – Let’s face it, driving in So. Cal can be difficult even when the weather is sunny. More so when the weather turns nasty. Good brakes are essential, especially when the freeways are slick with rain, and the 405 is bumper-to-bumper. One thing you can do yourself is to look for low brake fluid levels in the transparent brake reservoir. If you are adding or replacing brake fluid yourself, make sure to use clean brake fluid from an unopened container to avoid contamination. If you think your brakes feel “mushy” or if your car grabs or pulls when you apply the brakes, let our OC Buick GMC dealership’s certified GM technicians thoroughly inspect your brakes for such things as warped rotors, sticking calipers, worn brake pads, and leaking brake fluid lines.

To complete your 2015 El Niño automotive survival guide, here are some additional things you should check to ensure your car is ready for this unpredictable winter weather season.

Tires – Check your tires for improper pressure, uneven wear, gouges or cracks in the sidewall, or any other abnormality. Refer to your owner’s manual for the correct tire pressure. You can also find this information on the inside of the driver’s side door. Invest in a good quality tire pressure gauge. Don’t forget to check the tire pressure of your spare.

Coolant – You should also inspect your coolant levels by looking at the plastic recovery reservoir next to the radiator. Do this when your engine is cold to avoid injury. You don’t have to remove the radiator cap, just fill the reservoir to the correct level using the proper kind of coolant. Consult your Buick or GMC owner’s manual or contact our Service Department if you aren’t sure what coolant to use.

Headlights And Taillights – When El Niño’s wet weather hits, it’s more important than ever to ensure that your headlights and taillights are working properly. Visually check your headlights, taillights, and brake lights. Most are very easy to replace by following the instructions in your owner’s manual. If your headlight lenses are cloudy, you can clean them yourself using one of many off-the-shelf headlight restoration kits on the market. Our Service Department can also assist you with replacing bulbs and cleaning plastic lenses.

Oil and Transmission Fluids – Locate the oil dipstick and check the oil level. If it’s a bit low, use the correct viscosity oil for your vehicle and top off the oil, being careful not to overfill. Consult your Buick or GMC owner’s manual for the proper oil to use in your car. You may sometimes find the correct oil to use on the oil filler cap.

Steering, Suspension & Alignment – If you notice that your car is constantly drifting to one side or the other and you’re having a tough time keeping it straight, it’s a sign that you need an alignment. If you car’s steering feels too heavy or too light, or if your car’s suspension isn’t taking the bumps like it used to, let our service techs diagnose the problem by road-testing your car.

If you’ve taken the right steps to prepare your car for the bad weather ahead, then you’ll be better prepared to survive El Niño 2015’s impact on our roadways.

The New Definition Of Interior Comfort, Versatility & Quality

Step inside the GMC Sierra’s spacious cabin and experience a new level of comfort, convenience, and refinement. As Marty Padgett of TheCarConnection.com points out: “The interior features a well laid-out upright dashboard, with easy-to-use controls that can be manipulated even by a gloved hand. Materials are as nice as any in the truck market, with soft-touch plastics used at almost all touch points. GMC’s signature red lighting is used on the clear gauges as well as for ambient lighting on models so equipped.”

GMC designers paid meticulous attention to detail to set the Sierra’s interior apart. Modern touches like brushed aluminum trim on the instrument panel, steering wheel, and center console, along with contrast stitching on the seats and dash, lend an air of refinement and luxury. Controls are ergonomically placed within easy reach, and the cavernous center console swallows up hanging file folders, laptops, and more.

As TheCarConnection.com’s Marty Padgett notes, “In-cabin storage is excellent. On Sierras with bench seats, there’s some storage embedded in the middle seat section, along with a trio of cup holders. Five-seat Sierras have a wide center console with cup holders, a deep rectangular storage bin, a pair of smartphone ridges, and, depending on trim level, up to five USB ports and both 12- and 110-volt power points so you can recharge or power almost anything–GoPros, camera batteries, even laptops. There’s a dual glovebox, and enough molded-in bottle holders to stash enough water for a desert crossing.”

From the construction site to the country club, the Sierra’s quiet triple-sealed cockpit becomes a rolling office that excels at keeping you at the top of your game. When you need to transport workers to a job site or the family on a weekend outing, the Sierra’s interior obliges with ample rear-seat legroom and dual-density foam seats for exceptional comfort. Available leather seating lets you take your Sierra uptown.

For the ultimate in performance and towing capacity, the available 6.2-liter V8 pumps out an authoritative 420 horses and prodigious 450 lb-ft of torque. This bad boy lets you tow a class-leading 12,000 pounds for those big jobs that need a heavy hauler to get the job done. A new eight-speed transmission helps improve fuel economy.
