GMC: Where Safety Comes Standard

Since GMC’s inception in the early 1900s, vehicle technology has come a long, long way. After a century of serving up four-wheeled brilliance, safety has remained a key focus for GMC. Their newest models available in today’s market come equipped with cutting-edge GMC technology to keep you safe when traveling on the busy and sometimes chaotic Los Angeles freeways (curse you, I-405). Learn all about safety from our GMC dealership, Simpson Buick GMC below.

  • Forward Collision Alert systems detect and alert the driver when a dangerous front-end collision is present. The system will also provide an alert if the driver is following too closely to a detected vehicle. For all you frequent tailgaters out there, buying a car with this GMC safety feature might be well worth it.
  • Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert makes changing lanes a breeze. This system will provide an alert via the vehicle’s side-view mirror if a vehicle is detected or quickly approaching your blind spot. That means less craning of the neck and more watching of the road.
  • Front Pedestrian Braking systems will detect and alert the driver if a collision with a pedestrian is imminent (if the driver has not adequately applied the brakes). The system will also automatically apply the brakes to reduce collision severity or avoid it completely. If you frequently drive through UCLA campus in L.A. or Chapman University in Orange County, this GMC technology could even save a life.
  • Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning systems provide gentle nudges to the steering wheel (and Lane Departure Warning alerts) when it detects drifting into another lane without a turn signal. For long road trips past Anaheim and up the coast, Lane Keep Assist is essential.

These features are available on most all-new GMC models including the 2018 and 2017 GMC Acadia. Receiving a 5-star overall rating from the NHTSA and a 2017 Top Safety Pick nod by the IIHS, the Acadia is one of the safest midsize SUVs on the road today. Be sure to take one for a test drive at our Buick and GMC dealership in Buena Park.
