Why the 2017 Nissan Altima Should Be Your Family Car

Let’s get the car’s obvious charm out of the way first: The 2017 Nissan Altima looks beautiful. Its sleek form flows effortlessly from the front fascia’s LED headlights to the premium taillights that delight and inform the cars in the rear. Just look at these two handsome studs!

Although this beauty looks at home when displayed in our Nissan dealership’s showroom, it is foremost a family car that’s always prepared for a trip. And when you’re transporting your loved ones to picnics, sports competitions, or medical appointments, you’ll want nothing more than the Altima’s comfortable interior, latest technology, and comprehensive protection. Here’s why the Nissan’s new Altima is perfect for your family.

Comfortability & Space for Everybody

The kids will feel like princes and princesses sitting on the soft and luxurious leather-upholstered seats. Available mood lighting can calm them down or get them excited, depending on the setting, while numerous cup and bottle holders keep everybody’s drink ready to be sipped.

Maximize your comfort up front with the available eight-way power adjustable driver seat, which also has ample amounts of lumbar support. And whoever’s riding shotgun gets the added perk of a seat with four power adjustments. You won’t be fighting over whether it’s too hot or cold with separate settings allowed by Dual Zone Automatic Temperature Control; so they won’t feel left out, those in the back get their own available vents.

Wind-tunnel testing ensures that this finely crafted sedan breezes easily down the highway. Active Grille Shutters, which are available in select four-cylinder Altima trims, close when the car approaches highway speeds to enhance aerodynamics and fuel efficiency. How does that translate to interior comfort? They remain open on slower drives, indirectly aiding engine cooling and cabin temperatures.

When Safety is a Priority

The Nissan Safety Shield® starts with six airbags that rely on sensors to detect the amount of inflation needed to protect front-seat passengers. But you may never get to that stage thanks to the numerous driver-assist technologies incorporated in the 2017 Altima.

To help prevent accidents, Nissan added the Predictive Forward Collision Warning system into the Altima. This feature lets you know if you’re about to hit the vehicle in front of you. If you don’t take emergency maneuvers in time, Forward Emergency Braking stops the car in its tracks—or at least as quickly as possible.

When you change lanes, Blind Spot Warning alerts you to the presence of a vehicle just beyond your peripheral vision. You not only hear an audible a warning chime, but you’ll also see an indicator on the Advanced Drive-Assist® Display.

Pull out of your garage or parking space more easily with the Altima’s RearView Monitor, which shows you if any kids or toys are in your path. Red, yellow, and green indicators help you figure out how close you are to those obstacles. And if another car approaches behind you, from either side, Rear Cross Traffic Alert warns you.

Keep in Touch

As much as you’d like to take refuge in your 2017 Altima, it still connects you to the world outside with the standard Bluetooth® Hands-free Phone System. You can make calls on a compatible smartphone, or send and receive texts verbally with the messaging assistant. Need to adjust the radio volume or find directions to a gas station? You can do it all with your gift of voice (and the sedan’s ubiquitous Nissan Voice Recognition software).

All this technology is part of NissanConnect™, which also lets you perform a Google Search®, check up on Facebook, or stream Pandora stations simply by the tapping the Altima’s full-color touchscreen display. If you want your musical journeys to take you to a rock concert or stage show, the available Bose® Premium Audio System boasts nine channels that are customized with the acoustics of the cabin.
