The Township of Denville, New Jersey goes all-out for Halloween. Starting in mid-October, Denville usually holds scary storytimes for little ones, even a Halloween parade sponsored by the Denville Fire Department. Last year’s trick-or-treat hours ran from 4 to 7 pm, but who knows what is in store for 2017?
Parsippany-Troy Hills, NJ:
Close by in Parsippany-Troy Hills, you can attend an annual Trunk or Treat event. Instead of going from door to door for cavity-creating treats, you can move from trunk to trunk. You can also decorate your own vehicle and join in on the action! This safe alternative to trick-or-treating will make Halloween extra delightful, especially in the back of your Nissan Rogue! Downtown Morristown offers another safe alternative to the usual trick-or-treating by allowing little ghouls and goblins to descend on places of business. Businesses that are participating will place a pumpkin in their window; this is the go-ahead for your little ones to head in and grab a goodie. Not only is this a safe alternative to the traditional trick-or-treating, but it also gives you the option to shop in some of your favorite downtown shops!

Like Morristown, Dover is also holding Halloween with their downtown merchants this year. Dover invites you and your little ones to enjoy trick-or-treating while walking around the historic downtown town on Saturday, October 28th, from 11 am to 2 pm. Best yet, the first 300 children to check in will receive a free bag for trick-or-treating!
Tips to Stay Safe on Halloween
While it’s important to have fun, it’s also important to be safe during this spooky holiday. Here are some quick and easy safety tips to keep in mind:
- Make sure your child knows where to meet in case you get separated for any reason.
- Plan a route ahead of time and stay in well-lit areas.
- Try to avoid costumes with masks, if possible.
