2018 Nissan Altima: The Newest Generation of Excellence

In 2018, Nissan continues the outstanding legacy of its popular Altima model with a refresh of the efficient, head-turning and aerodynamic styling that has distinguished the Altima since its last major redesign in 2013. The Altima has always been a smart blend of award-winning safety and sporty driving performance, and the 2018 Altima is no exception, proving once again that a family-sized car can still offer a whole lot.

Born in the Wind Tunnel

This year, Nissan enhances the Altima’s already-sleek design with available active grille shutters that automatically close at highway speeds, offering even better efficiency. All models, particularly the 2018 Altima SR trim, offer the ultimate driving experience, as the vehicle was born and bred on Nissan’s testing grounds and inside its wind tunnel.

Altima is a Fuel-Efficient King

The 4-cylinder engine provides impressive fuel economy in a 179-hp package (27 mpg in the city and an astounding 39 mpg on the highway). For life in the fast lane, performance drivers will love the extra pep available in Nissan’s legendary 3.5-liter V6. With 270 hp under the pedal, the V6 brings 32 mpg/hwy to the show.

Performance Driving Technology

For high-spirited driving, the Altima’s Active Understeer Control evaluates each cornering situation and applies braking to the appropriate wheel for consistently smooth steering through any turn. Nissan’s Xtronic CVT® provides a wave of power when you need it and quiet low-rpm efficiency for cruising through Albuquerque traffic.

Into the Altima Cockpit and Interior

Soft leather-appointed seats invite you into the Altima cockpit, and dual-zone climate control with large rear vents ensure you’ll stay there, regardless of where you’re riding. The ergonomic center stack gives easy access to all the controls, too, which is a pleasant sight compared to some of the other midsize cars on the market.

A turn-by-turn directional display is centered between the speedometer and the tachometer, front and center to the driver, right where it belongs. Tire pressure monitoring and Caller ID can also be monitored from this central display to prevent driving distractions.

NissanConnect lets you take the internet with you to stay connected anywhere. It also makes your mobile phone a tool rather than a distraction, with hands-free calling features that are simple to use. Google Search is right there when you need to find the closest restaurant or gas station, too, and the rear-view monitor has your back with rear cross-traffic monitors when you’re parking in tight spaces.

 Altima SR Sport Performance Enhancements

For even racier performance, the Altima SR package offers specially tuned suspension for pushing through the tightest corners, steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters that keep drivers’ focus centered on the road ahead, and a glossy exterior. Smoked headlights and lightweight 18″ alloy wheels set the SR apart from the usual run-of-the-mill pack of midsize sedans found in the segment.

Family-Centric Intelligent Safety Shield

Nissan Intelligent Safety Shield technology is the suite of advanced systems combining Blind Spot Warning, Predictive Forward Collision Warning, and Intelligent Forward Emergency Braking. These systems enable the Altima to function as the driver’s vigilant co-pilot. These intelligent driver-assist features don’t just monitor the road and warn the driver about perilous situations; they also take immediate action to respond and protect even when the driver is distracted or fails to respond to warnings.

Three Years Ahead of Rivals

Nissan is leading the industry in braking- and collision-avoidance safety technology by making it standard on in its 2018 line of vehicles, including the Altima, Maxima, and most other SUVs and sedans. All major automakers have agreed to make this vital emergency braking technology available by 2021, but Nissan’s 2018 initiative puts them three years ahead of the mark. That’s what makes the 2018 Altima such a family-friendly car.
