The 2nd Annual Car Show for Kids

The Second Annual Car Show for Kids will be held on September 8, starting at 9 am, at the Nebraska Furniture Mart in Kansas City.

Your family is sure to have an enriching experience here that makes for amazing summertime memories. This event is not only great for you and your family but also your community, as proceeds go to the Children’s Mercy Hospital. Bring along one or two new, unwrapped toys to be donated to the Children’s Mercy Hospital, then get excited about the fun activities you can participate in! There will be a bounce house for the kids, as well as a coloring contest and numerous other crafts. Also available will be food trucks and a silent auction for parents.

The Summer Movie Series

Every Friday in July, starting July 6, the Landon Center on Aging is opening up a Summer Movie Series for anyone to attend. They will be playing The Lego Batman Movie, Coco, Beauty and the Beast, and A Wrinkle in Time, which are all family-friendly movies. There will also be free popcorn, so just bring a blanket for any (or all) of these cozy movie nights.

Brick Works Summer Service Program at Hollis Renewal Center

The Hollis Renewal Center is a great place in Kansas City to visit anytime. Your family can enjoy the numerous hiking trails, a picnic shelter, camping, and more.

This summer, however, the Renewal Center will host the Brick Works Summer Service Program, which is a family-friendly event that focuses on giving back to the community. Your kids will definitely have a rewarding experience here, where they will be sorting through used Legos to donate to other kids in the community. Afterward, popsicles will be served, and you and the kids can explore the hiking trails.

You can join this event for any of the three days it’s being hosted: June 6, July 11, and August 8.

Friends of Shawnee Town Arts & Crafts Fair

Do you and your kids love to get crafty? If so, mark the Friends of Shawnee Town Arts & Crafts Fair on your calendar (September 15). There will be plenty of handmade goods and other artisan items to purchase, as well as food trucks. Spend a whole afternoon exploring, eating, enjoying the live music, and participating in the special hands-on activities that guarantee your kids will embrace their creativity.

American Royal World Series of Barbecue

Are you looking to try some amazing food this summer? The American Royal World Series Barbecue is the perfect weekend event for your family to join as we mark the end of summer in Kansas City.

From September 13 to September 16, at the Kansas Speedway, there will be live music, barbecued foods, and plenty of activities for the kids. There will even be an open barbecue competition here, so you know you are getting some of the tastiest foods around town. You can join in on the fun by watching or even competing in these contests. Just be sure to attend with an empty stomach!
