Kansas City Concert Calendar: Summer 2016 Edition


With summer comes barbecues, flip-flops, and a ton of incredible concerts in the Kansas City area. Whether you’re a pop fiend, a hip hop fanatic, or rock addict, you’re certain to find a show that’ll make summer that much better. Meghan Trainor at Mix 93.3 Red, White & Boom

One of America’s biggest young pop stars, Meghan Trainor, is headlining a summer tour that will land her in the Kansas City area for the first time. Her lineup of opening acts includes Andra Day, Lil Dicky, and Ruth B, among others. Get your dose of bass this June with Miss Trainor and her undoubtedly playful stage show.

Guns N’ Roses and Alice in Chains

When two iconic bands like GNR and Alice in Chains get together, it’s a must-see show for obvious reasons. On one end you have Slash and Axl Rose reuniting with Duff McKagan for the first time in decades, inciting nostalgic memories with each shred and high-pitched chorus. On the other is the underrated Alice in Chains, a hard rock band with one of the most impressive catalogs of 90s hits. A blast from the past for sure, this show should be as wild as Axl’s cornrows (that’s a good thing).

Buzz Beach Ball Presented by 96.5 The Buzz

The Buzz Beach Ball is an exciting weekend-long event that will host such indie darlings as Cage the Elephant, Portugal the Man, The Joy Formidable, and Fitz and the Tantrums, among many others. Join thousands of other fans as they take on the summer heat at one of Kansas City’s best venues. Just bring the sunscreen and enough deodorant to last two full days.

Chevelle at Uptown Theater

Mainstream rockers Chevelle headline a summer tour that will mark their second Kansas City visit in a year’s time. The trio of musicians will bring their post-hardcore intensity and radio-friendly alt-rock songs to the center stage of Uptown Theater. If you’re a fan, make sure you take advantage and see the band jam out live. Plus, they share their name with an old school Chevrolet model, so we’re on board.

Weezer & Panic! At the Disco Summer Tour

Part of the Capitol Federal Concert Series, the Weezer and Panic! At the Disco show at The Starlight will surely satiate pop-punk fans in the greater Kansas City area. Hosting special musical guest Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, this concert will produce enough crowd surfers to fill a theater—literally. Tickets are selling fast! Get yours today.

Wilco at CrossroadsKC

The late 90s produced more one-hit wonders than perhaps any era before. Wilco is not a one-hit wonder, but rather a wonder of eclectic hits. Mixing soul, pop, psychedelia, country, and bluegrass, Wilco has a knack of luring fans of music into their corner, making them one of the most well-liked indie bands in the country. Check them out when they visit Kansas City this August.

Def Leppard with REO Speedwagon

For more than three decades, Def Leppard has been filling venues all over the country. Known for their lively shows, the band will take the stage this summer with REO Speedwagon and Tesla to play loud, hard, and with the same energy as ever before. Grab your tickets to what should be one of the best Kansas City concerts this summer.

The Bad Boy Reunion Tour

If you’re a fan of rap, hip hop, and R&B, you’d be crazy to pass on Puff Daddy (Sean Combs? P Diddy? Puffy?) and the rest of the Bad Boys Records cast of musicians reunite for a show in KC. Featuring Bad Boys icons Lil’ Kim, Mase, Faith Evans, and more, this concert event will be an can’t-miss event in the world of hip hop.
