It’s finally here! The 2017 Chevrolet Bolt just won the coveted North American Car of the Year award, and we’re excited to offer it to you here at McCarthy/Morse Chevrolet.
The Bolt beat out the Volvo S90 and the Genesis G90 to become the first electric car to be named North American Car of the Year. Both are great vehicles in their own right, but when compared to the affordability and eco-friendliness of the Bolt, they didn’t stand a chance and are now green with envy. Continue Reading →

“Should I buy a new or used car?” When posing this question to a group of friends, you may get a hung jury. What’s best for Bob might not be best for Jane, and vice versa. The decision to buy a new or used car essentially boils down to your personality, situation, and finances. Let’s run through some of the benefits of each option. By the end of this list, we hope that a clear car-buying route will pop into view. (And if it doesn’t, you can always ask for help from our Chevy dealership in Overland Park).
The Pros of Buying a New Car
If you’re the type who enjoys that new-car smell, buying a new car makes sense. But you should follow the guidance of more than just your nostrils when choosing a vehicle. It’s a big purchase—think it through. For your consideration, here are some benefits that come with buying your new car.
- Curb Appeal (literally) – There may be no better way to show off your sense of style than a new car. Sure, a suit and tie or designer purse might help you snag that new job, but there’s something about a shiny new car that makes you feel prepared for anything life hands you.
- Reliability – New vehicles come with manufacturer warranties that cover most issues unrelated to driver error. With one of our new Chevy models, you’ll get a full bumper-to-bumper limited warranty for up to three years or 46,000 miles, as well as a powertrain warranty with coverage up to five years or 60,000 miles. Extended warranties are also available, as is roadside assistance. Even with the warranties, your new car probably won’t need more than regular maintenance during its first 100,000 miles.
- Newest Features – Buying a new car means staying linked to the modern world. New tech features are fitted everywhere from the dash to the instrument panel to the trunk, so you can always find convenience with the snap of a finger. Take the 2017 Chevy Cruze as an example, with its standard MyLink infotainment system and 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, optional built-in 4G LTE WiFi, and versatile 60/40 rear seat. Yeah, it’s really that packed with convenient features, and available today at our Overland Park Chevy dealership.
- Customized Packages – To take advantage of the best optional features, accessories, and tech, you might want to consider upgrading to a higher trim level and package. When you buy a used car, you get what you get, and you don’t throw a fit—thanks, Mom—but choosing a new car means you can customize it with all the proverbial bells and whistles available.

At McCarthy/Morse Chevrolet, we think taking a break from all your worries sure would help a lot. So introduce yourself and test drive a Chevrolet Traverse today at McCarthy/Morse Chevy, your trusted new and used car dealer in Overland Park, KS!
New Trim Levels Available
In stride with Chevy’s brand-wide strategy, the Traverse has switched up its trim levels—at least by nomenclature—to include three primary models: Premier, LT, and LS, with the LT and LS trims separated by “sub-trims.”
The base-level LS comes categorized by sub-trims 1SM and 1LS. The 1SM is the Traverse’s entry model, and comes standard with the following: 17-inch steel wheels, roof railings, a bold rear spoiler, AC, the essential 60/40 folding second- and third-row seating, Bluetooth phone connectivity, rearview camera, 6.5-inch touch display, USB audio and additional charging ports, and a 3-month subscription to OnStar with 4G LTE and WiFi connection. The next four months are bliss if you’re a fan of football. At McCarthy/Morse Chevrolet, we’re more than thrilled to bust out our Chiefs jerseys, dust off our foam arrowhead hats, and grow an Andy Reid-like mustache for the start of the 2016 season. To ramp up the excitement, we wanted to preview the Chiefs’ home games and offer some essential Kansas City football tailgating tips—hint: a 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 isn’t essential, but its towing capacity and EZ-Lift tailgate offer ultimate tailgate convenience—to help you get around Arrowhead Stadium.
Join us in cheering on our Chiefs as they look to go undefeated at home and compete for this year’s trophy!
Sunday, Sept. 11th @ 12:00 PM CST – San Diego Chargers
Rain or shine, the seats at Arrowhead Stadium will be host to 76,000-some-odd butts when the Philip Rivers-led Chargers head into KC on September 11th. Division rivalry aside, San Diego will undoubtedly have a thirst for blood after a disappointing 4 – 12 season and they’ve marked the bullseye on our own Kansas City Chiefs. Will we expand on a superb 2015 campaign and claim the AFC West division in game one? Join KC Wolf and other rabid Chiefs fans to bear witness to the rise of a championship contender.
Tailgating Tip #1: Arrive super early to get in on the action. Gates open by 8:30 AM, and “superfans” typically arrive in the wee hours of the morning, red-painted face and all. It’s all about commitment—something that Kansas City football tailgaters have in spades. Continue Reading →

While sales in the compact-sedan market have slowed overall in the last handful of years, mainstays like the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze have helped to keep the segment’s train on track. But riding the coattails of SUVs and the compact’s larger sedan cousins isn’t enough; with the new Chevy Cruze, and in some instances the Dodge Dart, the boundaries of delivering a spacious, feature-filled car that can actually zip have been crossed.
At McCarthy/Morse Chevrolet in Overland Park, KS, we decided to compare these two pillars of the compact car sector and find out, once and for all, which will fall short, and which will hold up the championship belt. Ready for the results? Continue Reading →
