One of the best thing about the beginning of a new year is seeing how the auto industry has upgraded and tweaked your favorite vehicles, including the Chevy Blazer. That’s right: For the first time in 24 years, Chevrolet is manufacturing a Blazer SUV for 2019, and we’re all excited to see it up close and personal. Here’s what to expect from the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer when it arrives at our Lee’s Summit Chevy dealership.
2019 Blazer Power & Styling
Chevy is releasing three different Blazer trim options, including the entry-level Blazer, followed by the Blazer RS and Blazer Premier. The basic Chevy Blazer will likely be equipped with a 193-horsepower, 2.5-liter inline-4 engine that returns 27 mpg highway. The RS and Premier will likely have a 305-horsepower, 3.6-liter V-6 engine that can tow up to 4,500 pounds and return 26 mpg highway. All trims come with a 9-speed automatic transmission and stop-start functionality.
Chevrolet managed to create an SUV that looks both tough and streamlined. Looking at the 2019 Chevy Blazer, it’s easy to forget that there was a time when the vehicle was designed to be more like a truck than a car. The newest version of the Blazer instantly calls to mind the days when elegant and powerful muscle cars roamed the streets.
It’s not often that headlights garner much attention, but the headlamps on the new Blazer are worth mentioning. Not only does the design help enhance its exterior, but they’re also High-Intensity Discharge headlights, which significantly improves nighttime visibility while being energy efficient.
The 2019 Chevy Blazer Interior
If you’re in the market for an SUV with a clean interior that’s full of bells and whistles, you’ll love what Chevy accomplished with its 2019 Blazer.
Everything you touch while inside the Chevy Blazer is soft. All knobs are easy to grip and turn, and you can easily operate the central stack of tech without having to tear your attention away from the road. The infotainment touchscreen screen is placed well on that stack, too.
The 2019 Chevy Blazer is equipped with seating for five passengers, and offers 64.2 cubic feet of cargo space, although it’s not clear how much actual space is located behind the seats in the actual cargo area. A Chevrolet-first Cargo Management System is offered, as well, allowing you to customize the back in any way you see fit.
The rear seat is a 60/40 split that is placed on sliding tracks, making it easy for the seat to be adjusted when additional cargo room is needed. Under the floor of the cargo area, there’s space for your spare tire and jack, as well as a few additional cubbies for any other items you want to have in the vehicle with you yet don’t necessarily want to have to move out of the way each time you stock up on groceries.
Features in the 2019 Chevy Blazer
Chevrolet didn’t hold back when it came to equipping the 2019 Blazer with special features. Chevy has announced that the features they plan on including in the different Blazer trims include:
- Heated seats
- Towing packages
- Rear mirror camera
- Adaptive cruise control
- Forward-collision warnings with full-speed automatic emergency braking.
- USB ports
- A panoramic twin-pane glass roof
- Electronic locking glovebox
- Wireless smartphone charging
- Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- 8.0-inch touchscreen for infotainment
Special additions to both the RS and the Premier will include an AWD system with a twin-clutch rear differential, which will help the vehicle handle slippery roads better than more basic SUVs. The Blazer comes with standard 18-inch wheels, but customers can choose to upgrade to 21-inch wheels if they feel they need more height.
