Buick debuted the Enclave 10 years ago to enthusiastic fanfare thanks to its spacious cabin and smooth and quiet road manners. Ten years later, the 2018 Enclave not only continues the tradition of excellence people expect from Buick engineers, but it also sets new standards for brilliance in the crossover SUV sector with its cutting-edge technology and gorgeous styling (not to mention plenty of power and near-perfect handling capabilities).
New Enclave Trim Levels
In addition to the base model, the 2018 Enclave also comes in Essence, Premium, and Avenir trim levels. For additional options like all-wheel drive, a heated steering wheel, power-folding side mirrors with turn signals, heated second row seats, a Bose performance-enhanced 10 speaker system, and a dual moonroof, you’ll definitely want to take the step up, up, and away (into one of those premier Enclave trims, that is).
Driving the 2018 Enclave
Buick has not only made the 2018 Enclave more powerful with a beefier 3.6-liter V6 engine, but they’ve also made it hundreds of pounds lighter, turning the crossover into an agile, athletic that’s fit for asphalt and pebble roads. The new motor delivers 310 HP and 266 lb-ft of torque and is mated to a smooth-shifting 9-speed automatic transmission.
Reviewers like Kelley Blue Book’s Matt DeLorenzo love the way the new Enclave drives, noting its steering to be “precise and communicative,” and its ride “well damped and comfortable.”
Marty Padgett of The Car Connection gushes that the Enclave’s new 3.6L V6 “emits a lovely, low-key windup noise,” while also raving over the fact that the Enclave has ” strong acceleration and handles like it cares about the road ahead!” Just like its driver, eh?
Good Looks to Spare
In addition to having what it takes to get you places, the 2018 Enclave doesn’t sacrifice anything in the style department. Its all-new styling features a lower roofline, steeply raked windshield, and an overall look that would-be consumers would describe as “sleek on top of even more sleek.” LED daytime running headlamps and taillights add to its upscale appearance.
Marty Padgett quips, “some lovely SUVs have been unveiled in the past couple of years—CX-9, F-Pace. The Enclave is lovelier!” Yes. Yes, it is.
Comfort Plus Utility
Step inside the 2108 Buick Enclave, and you’ll discover an interior that’s roomy and cleaner than a freshly washed baby, with a nicely padded dash, chrome and wood accents, large 8-inch screen in the center of the dash, and electronic analog gauges in front of the driver. Second-row bucket seats flip and fold for easier third-row access, and there’s plenty of head and legroom all around. (Oh, and did we mention that heated front seats are standard?)
Yet despite the spacious, comfortable seating, Buick has sacrificed little in the way of cargo room. Even with all three rows of seats in position, there’s still a generous 23.6 cubic feet of space in back (with all seats flat, that expands to 97.6 cubic feet — enough usable cargo space to carry just about anything your heart desires).
The 2018 Enclave features an 8″ touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, a one-year trial of OnStar Basic, and 4G Wi-Fi LTE hotspot.
There are also driver-assist features like Teen Driver (allowing you to monitor your teen driver, obviously), a back-seat reminder and warning system, a rear-view camera, and parking assist. Also standard are keyless entry, push-button start, a programmable hands-free liftgate, triple-zone climate control and six USB ports.
Test Drive a New Enclave in Marshall, MO
It’s hard to see how SUV enthusiasts can find anything better than the 2018 Buick Enclave. But, as a Marshall Buick dealer, we may be biased. The only way to see is to test drive the new Enclave for yourself at our Marshall car dealership (1550 W Arrow). Tens of minutes of testing will lead you to the same conclusion as the rest of us: The 2018 Enclave really is exceptional.
