This is big. The 2018 Chevy Equinox is now available for sale or lease, and it’s definitely worth your time to check this SUV out at our new Chevrolet dealer near Warrensburg. Why? The folks at Chevy have redesigned their compact SUV from stem to stern, and it’s gorgeous, spectacular, stunning, striking, and any other adjective you can throw its way. Read on to check out all there is to love about this brand-new Chevrolet Equinox.
What Else is New?
As Chevy points out, a redesign should take into account the wants and needs of the driver, and this crossover delivers next-level sophistication on all fronts.
Aside from a great new body design, its “bones” are new too. Areas crucial to front-end crash safety are made with hot-stamped, press-hardened martensitic steel (used in the A- and B-pillars and in a reinforcement under the toe pan). In addition, the new crash rail structure in front now splays outward to better absorb angular and offset impacts. These changes reflect Chevy’s commitment to the safety of everybody who drives or rides in its vehicles.
All the latest safety equipment is either included or available in the new Equinox, such as 360-degree “around view” monitoring (for maneuvering into parking spaces), lane-keep assist (to prevent inadvertently “drifting” out of your lane on the highway), a safety alert electro-whoopee cushion seat, and an all-new rear seat reminder—this one’s truly innovative and seriously important—to keep drivers from inadvertently leaving kids in a hot car and becoming the crux of yet another news headline.
Keyless entry and start are now standard, as are “projector-beam” headlights and LED daytime running lights.
Form, Function, Nuts & Bolts
Not only does the Equinox have the great looks you want in a crossover, it’s also got a heaping dose of functionality and flexibility. A generous 63.5 cubic feet of cargo space is available thanks to fold-down rear seats. A hands-free rear door opens with a simple foot motion so you don’t have to struggle when your hands are full. A roomy, comfortable cabin makes the Equinox about as versatile as they come, allowing you to take on a day’s worth of errands in Moberly and still have space to pick up the kids from soccer practice in Higginsville, MO.
Of course, you want a vehicle that’s as fun to drive as it is good-looking, so you’ll be glad to know that the Equinox’s new turbocharged motor doesn’t sacrifice performance in the slightest! The 1.5-liter engine has its own unique cam timing, and as the reviewers at MotorTrend point out, the improved turbocharger boosts both performance and fuel economy for this model year. Also available is a 2.0-liter engine that’s boosted by a 9-speed automatic transmission, as well as a new “whisper diesel” (i.e. quiet) engine that was previously only available in Europe. The innovative diesel power plant features a cooled-exhaust-gas-recirculation circuit and a selective catalytic reduction emissions control system to keep it EPA-compliant, which is new for American soil. It’s zippy and allows the Equinox to return unbelievable fuel economy at approximately 40 mpg! All three engines feature auto start/stop.
The Latest Technology
Rounding out the innovation is some new technology, including a package that helps give you peace of mind that your teen is driving safely. Chevy’s Teen Driver feature includes automatic muting of the audio until front-seat occupants are buckled in, as well as automatic activation of available advanced safety technologies like Side Blind Zone Alert, Forward Collision Alert, and Low Speed Automatic Braking. An in-vehicle “report card” shows you how your kiddo performed during each drive, allowing you to identify areas for improvement so you can coach ‘em up with confidence.
Also available is a dedicated wireless charging pad, Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ compatibility through the color MyLink™ Touchscreen display, and built-in 4G LTE® Wi-Fi hotspot, which gives you and your passengers the ability to connect up to seven devices to the internet. Stay connected. Stay safe. Even though that’s not Chevy’s motto, it should be.
