2017 Buick Enclave vs. Acura MDX SUV Comparison
Buick’s vehicles have long been America’s gold standard when it comes to luxuriousness. With the new 2017 Buick Enclave, that standard is no longer a golden hue—it’s platinum. But what about its fellow top-tier SUV, the Acura MDX? Let’s compare these two luxury vehicles to see which is the best SUV for you and your family.
Best Overall Value
Available in three trims (Convenience, Leather, and Premium), the Buick Enclave has a starting price of less than $40,000. The ’17 Acura MDX without any add-ons or packages starts at over $44k, with decked-out models hitting as high as almost $60,000. For about $4,000 more than the base MDX, you can upgrade to the top Enclave trim, and receive more bang for your buck, including the following:
- Standard navigation
- Ventilated bucket seats
- Leather-wrapped shifter
- In-vehicle assistance service
- Blind-spot monitoring
- Parking assist
- Stolen vehicle tracking software
- More passenger volume (154 cu. ft. vs. 133 cu. ft.)
- More cargo space (115 cu. ft. vs. 90.0 cu. ft.)
According to Edmunds.com, the 2017 Buick Enclave is “an upscale yet still practical crossover that undercuts luxury-branded rivals on price.” Take that, MDX.
Labeled as a luxury SUV, the MDX surprisingly lacks the modern technology that Buick’s Enclave offers. For instance, Enclave owners and passengers have access to one of the fastest 4G Wi-Fi hotspots in the segment. The 2017 MDX offers no such treat, not even as an optional feature with their $60k model.
The Acura MDX does feature two infotainment touchscreens, though neither is particularly easy to use. U.S. News even states that “some features in the MDX require multiple steps using the touch screen, the controller knob, and physical controls to adjust.” Those additional albeit necessary steps take away from the MDX’s otherwise luxe interior.
At the other end of the technological spectrum is the 2017 Enclave. It features a more intuitive Buick IntelliLink infotainment system with hands-free communication, HID headlights, standard remote start, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
Pay Less & Get More with the New Buick Enclave
When comparing the sticker prices of the new Enclave and MDX, it’s quite clear which is the more budget-friendly SUV. But all of the additional interior space, standard features, and modern tech is what actually pushes the Enclave over the edge and into the winner’s circle.
