Now that the cold and winter weather are only distant memories, it’s time to start thinking about summer. Winter takes its toll on your car. Is your Mazda ready to take the summer heat? Before you go out and appreciate that well-deserved sunshine, stop and get your Mazda in shape for summer. We’ve made a list of five easy steps to take to get your new Mazda in tip top shape this summer.
Traffic moves much slower in winter months because of the higher volume of drivers and inclement weather. The stop and go traffic during any winter storm can hinder the integrity of your brakes. To get your brakes ready for summer, inspect them closely. Make sure the edges of your brake pads aren’t crumbling or discolored and look for cracking in your brake rotors or drums. If you see any of these tell-tale signs, schedule a service appointment right away.
Now that the May flowers have arrived, I know you’re wishing for that occasional shower to keep them growing. When thinking of those summer showers, try and remember the last time you replaced your windshield wiper blades. If you haven’t in the last year, it’s time. Your wiper blades are exposed to the nastiest of Mother Nature’s fury, including ultraviolet rays from the summer sun that hurt the rubber. Replacing your wiper blades is a quick and low-cost fix, so it’s best to swap them out before you’re stuck in a nasty summer storm.
Has it been a while since you really looked at your tires? Get up-close and take a good look at your tires. Do you see dry rot, bumps in the side wall or uneven wear? Any of these small problems will only get shoddier in the warm temperatures that summer brings. When the temperature rises, so does your tire pressure. Consider rotating your tires, or if they’re looking a little iffy, replace them to avoid a highway blowout. Either way, we’ve got your Mazda protected with our service center.
Do you really need an excuse to wash your Mazda? If you aren’t the best with keeping up with the cleanliness of your car, take this seasonal change to get things spic and span! If you get an automated car wash, go ahead and spring for the undercarriage and wheel well wash – your Mazda will thank you. If you’re the type that prefers hand washing your car, make sure to use high pressure water to clean off all that the winter has left behind.
Is your Mazda’s ice-cold air conditioning slacking a little this spring? Over time your car can leak refrigerant, causing your compressor to operate for longer periods than typical. This puts extra strain on your engine while cutting time off your engine’s life. If your air conditioning isn’t as cold as it used to be, it’s time to swing by our service center to get it checked out, before it turns into a bigger problem.
