10 Best Places to Watch Super Bowl XLIX in Boston

With Super Bowl XLIX right around the corner, now is the time to start planning where you’ll be celebrating the Big Game on February 1st. We’ve come up with our list of the 10 best spots to watch the game in the greater Boston area. So even if the Pats aren’t playing, you’ll still have plenty to cheer about no matter what you choose.

  1. Cask ‘n Flagon – This legendary Fenway Park area favorite has tons of TVs, an ample menu, comfy chairs, and couches. There’s another location in Marshfield with the same classic sports vibe.
  2. Jerry Remy’s – Known for its huge wall of big-screen TVs, this popular gathering spot has the well-earned reputation as Boston’s ultimate sports bar. There are two locations; one on Boyslton St. and the other on Northern Avenue.
  3. Champions Sports Bar – Head to the Copley Marriott at Copley Place in Back Bay and experience the massive, eye-popping wrap-around plasma video wall for incredible game-day viewing. There are lots of craft beers and sports memorabilia to keep your spirits high.
  4. Boston Beer Works – a huge amount of high-definition TVs and an even bigger selection of micro-brewed beers. Need we say more? Two locations near Fenway and TD Garden.
  5. The Fours – Rated the #1 Sports Bar in America by none other than Sports Illustrated, this amazing two-story bar and grille features perhaps the biggest collection of sports memorabilia in Boston. Great food and plenty of big-screen TVs complete the package. On Canal Street near TD Gardens.
  6. Jillian’s – “The game’s afoot,” as Sherlock Holmes would say. And this super-sized, three-level sports and entertainment center around the corner from Fenway doesn’t disappoint. Not only is it a great place to watch the game, it’s also a great place to have fun with a bowling alley, foosball, ping pong, darts, and more than 30 pool tables. There are several bars and restaurants to choose from.

  8. McGreevy’s 3rd Base Saloon – Step back into history and experience what is considered to be the very first sports-themed bar in America. Dating back to 1894, this Boston landmark continues to evoke memories of championships past and present. It has been reincarnated just steps from Fenway with many of the original furnishings, and with 16 HDTVs.
  9. The Sky Box – Located in nearby Tewksbury, this airy and open establishment features a modern décor and 30 large-screen TVs. An extensive menu will satisfy any appetite.

A 2015 New Year’s Resolution Guide for Mazda Owners

When it comes to making a list of 2015 New Year’s resolutions, we often think of how we would like to improve ourselves. Perhaps we’d like to lose a few extra pounds or exercise more. Cutting back on caffeine and sweets are other common goals. Maybe you’ll finally get around to painting the house or fixing those rickety front porch steps.

But what about setting a goal of being better at maintaining your car this coming year?

Of course, aspiring to improve any area of your life takes commitment, willpower, and planning. It also helps to have people supporting you in achieving your goals. At Lannan Mazda want you to succeed at better car maintenance, so we’ve put together a list of five resolutions you can make to ensure that you’re Mazda is running smoothly throughout 2015 and beyond.

In 2015, resolve to:

Get your oil changed regularly – Oil is the lifeblood of your Mazda. Dirty oil increases wear and tear on internal engine parts, which can lead to engine failure. It’s critical to check and change your oil regularly using your Mazda owner’s manual as a guide. Getting regular oil changes will prolong the life of your car and help keep it running in optimal condition.

Keep tires at the correct inflation – Under or over-inflated tires not only reduce their lifespan, but also affect fuel economy. It can also lead to potentially dangerous situations like blowouts. Weather has a big impact on tire pressure, so be sure and check your tire pressure on a regular basis. Refer to your owner’s manual or the sticker on the inside driver’s door panel for the correct pounds per square inch (PSI) tire pressure for your vehicle.

Inspect and replace windshield wiper blades – A clean windshield is essential to safe travel, especially during bad weather. Don’t wait until your blades are preventing you from seeing clearly. Have one of our certified technicians here at Lannan Mazda check to see if they need replacing.

Check your brakes – Worn brake pads, warped rotors, and sticking calipers are just some of the things that could impair the stopping power of your brakes. Have them checked by a professional and repaired if necessary.

Inspect your battery and cables – Extreme weather is hard on batteries. Look for corrosion, cracks, or wear on your cables. If you find that your car is taking longer to start, take it in to our Mazda Service Dept. and have one of our technicians test it. It’s better than being stranded in your driveway or at the mall with a dead battery.

These are just some car maintenance tips you can resolve to accomplish in 2015. By properly maintaining your Mazda throughout the year you’ll be driving with confidence. For more helpful tips, take a moment to read your Mazda owner’s manual, or contact our Service Department here at Lannan Mazda by calling 978-454-9300 and schedule an appointment for a Full Circle Inspection, free with any service performed.

10 Ways to Avoid Holiday Burnout from Lannan Mazda

Let’s face it: The holidays are stressful and filled with chaotic activity that can be all-consuming. If you’re like most of us, you’re probably wondering how to survive this festive season without losing your sanity and burning out. So we’ve gathered our favorite tips for surviving the holidays here in Lowell, Mass., and surrounding areas.

  1. Prioritize – Understand that you can’t do everything. Make a list of what’s most important and meaningful for you. Perhaps it’s volunteering, or spending more time with the family. It’s okay to say “no” to all those party invitations and other distractions to make time for what’s really important to you.
  2. Don’t bite off too much – The allure of last-minute holiday bargains, and the frenzy of preparing for the holidays can be exhausting. Don’t wait until the last minute. Plan ahead of time and pace yourself.
  3. Shop early and online – If you haven’t already, start making your online purchases now and avoid the hassle of going to the mall, fighting for that parking space, and enduring the crush of bodies at the checkout line. Order ahead to give plenty of time for gifts to arrive. You can even check those Mazda parts and accessories off your list easily from home by ordering online with Lannan Mazda.
  4. Take a break – It’s so easy to get caught up in the chaos that you can forget to stop, take a deep breath, and relax. Block out some “me” time on your calendar and stick to it.
  5. Let the “elves” pitch in and help – Reach out to family members or friends to help with grocery shopping, decorating, wrapping, or other holiday chores. Santa does it, why shouldn’t you?
  6. Manage expectations – If you’re aiming for a perfect Norman Rockwell New England holiday with all the trimmings, you may be overreaching. Sometimes the little things – like a hug, a thoughtful card, or a handmade gift – can make the holidays truly special without the stress.
  7. Get enough rest – This can be very hard to do; especially if you’re prone to staying up all night wrapping presents, rushing to parties, or braving the mall for some last-minute shopping. Lack of sleep will make your irritable, fatigued, and less productive.
  8. Take time to enjoy the season – the holidays are truly a magical time of year if you’ll slow down and simply enjoy them. Spend time with family and friends. Immerse yourself in the festive spirit. Revel in cherished traditions. And don’t take yourself too seriously.
  9. Avoid last-minute holiday shopping – There’s nothing that will spoil the holidays faster than putting up with difficult people, crowded malls, and empty store shelves. If you must, shop during the middle of the week to avoid the stampede of weekend shoppers.
  10. Plan ahead and stick to your budget – It sounds simplistic, but coming up with a list, figuring out how much you have to spend on gifts, food, and decorations, and then being disciplined to follow through without “freestyling” your purchases can help make a big difference. Put your list in your smartphone so you always have it handy.

Here at Lannan Mazda, we’re getting in the holiday spirit with an array of festive deals, incentives, and discounts on our huge inventory of new 2015 Mazdas. It’s also a great time to advantage of our 2014 Mazda year-end closeouts and large selection of value-priced, certified, pre-owned vehicles.
