June will be here before you know it, and with that comes Father’s Day – this year it’s Sunday, June 21 in case you didn’t know. While you can scour the malls and search the entire World Wide Web for the latest trends in Father’s Day gifting, everyone knows that food is what really makes Dad’s heart melt.Hot Pan!

For that reason, we’ve put together a list of local restaurants and eateries just to make things easier this Father’s Day.

Whether Dad likes Mexican, or he’s got a steak craving, we’ve got you covered. And don’t worry – none of the food here will give him heartburn.

Union Oyster House41 Union Street

This historic eatery, located on the Freedom Trail, is especially unique because it is America’s oldest restaurant. But the history isn’t the only thing keeping guests coming back. The food is amazing, with local favorites like the Oyster House Clam Chowder and Freshly Shucked Oysters. For Dad, we recommend the Seafood Newburg, lobster meat, tender shrimp and scallops in a rich and creamy sherry sauce.

Grill 23161 Berkeley Street at Stuart

Rated Boston’s Best Steakhouse by The Improper Bostonian, Grill 23 is the place to go if Dad’s in the mood for a proper steak. With world class service and all-natural meats, Dad won’t go hungry. We recommend starting dinner off with some Steak Tartare to keep things light before Dad chows down on his 10oz Filet Mignon.

O Ya9 East Street Place

All we can say is O Ya! Whether Dad is enjoying the Salmon Tataki or the Roasted Beet Sashimi, his taste buds are going to be thanking you for the culinary experience that is O Ya. Be ready to spend a fair amount of yen on Dad if you’re planning on coming here, but don’t worry – you won’t leave hungry! Finish things off with a shot of traditional Japanese sake.

Giulia1682 Massachusetts Ave

Located between Harvard and Porter Squares, Giulia is an Italian restaurant that provides an exceptional blend of spirited cooking and gracious hospitality. They focus on wonderful food and boy do they deliver! Dad will have his pick of pastas, but if it was up to us, we’d have the Stinging Nettle and Walnut Pansotti. If your party is large enough, be sure to plan ahead and sit at the pasta table, where you’ll enjoy a family-style tasting menu and share a wide variety of dishes inspired by seasonal flavors. Take public transportation if you can – parking in their neighborhood can be a challenge!

Casa Romero30 Gloucester Street

A little corner of Mexico in the heart of Back Bay, Dad will want to return to Casa Romero again and again. Their authentic Mexican menu boasts a wide variety of food, from Oxaca Style Pork Tamales to delicious and mouthwatering Carne Asada. They are now open for lunch, so turn Father’s Day into a real celebration and bring Dad by for some sangria and margaritas!

Mike’s Pastry300 Hanover Street

No matter where you go for lunch or dinner, head on down to Mike’s Pastry to finish it off. Mike’s specializes in traditional Italian pastry, but Dad can have his pick of cookies, cakes, biscotti, even gelati! It’s cash only, so make sure to stop by the ATM.
