INFINITI has partnered with the NCAA® and Coaches vs. Cancer® again in an effort to raise $700,000 in the fight to end cancer. On March 31st INFINITI will host the 2nd Annual Hardwood Heroes game as part of the 2017 NCAA® Men’s Final Four® Weekend.

This year’s basketball team consists of tough cancer survivors who are putting their will and spirit into playing and raising money and awareness to defeat cancer. The team members include:

Devon Hinton
A 20-year-old bone cancer survivor that underwent a 10-month treatment plan that included an amputation of his left leg above the knee.

Kristina Anderson
A courageous 28-year-old woman who survived ovarian cancer. She was also a multi-sport high school athlete and cheerleader at the University of Illinois.

Melissa Kovalesky
Diagnosed with the incurable chronic myeloid leukemia, Melissa is a 33-year-old fighter who uses her strength and courage to continue to fight.
Jared Ornoski
Struck with the devastating diagnosis of Hodgkin’s lymphoma, Jared had to quit playing basketball and have an emergency lymph node surgery his junior year. This 19-year-old fighter used a positive attitude to keep him going and was able to return to school his senior year and start every game.

Oscar Barragan
A 33-year-old with a “warrior mentality” who has faced a cancer diagnosis twice. He endured five rounds of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant, but stands tall today cancer free for the past four years.

Lena Spotleson
She was once placed on a ventilator after a chemotherapy-related infection put her in septic shock. Now a 36-year-old woman, Lena has been cancer free for 10 years and believes she can survive anything that comes her way.

J. Dee Marinko
Faced with the option to either keep his leg and possibly die or cut it off and live, J. Dee made the choice that would keep him alive. He now uses this story as a testimony and refuses to allow it be a setback.

This team will face an opposing team of returning 2016 survivors. Others can show their support by building and submitting a bracket round by round. For every correct pick INFINITI will make a donation to Coaches vs. Cancer® and the participant will be entered for a chance to win a trip to the 2018 Final Four®. For more information click here.
