Groundbreaking QX50 Concept Unveiled At Detroit Auto Show

Attendees at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit were abuzz about the dramatic launch of INFINITI’s stunning and technologically groundbreaking QX50 Crossover Concept.

New VC-Turbo A Technological Marvel.

The gorgeous QX50 marks a significant engineering accomplishment for INFINITI, as the automaker debuted its radical new 2.0-liter VC-Turbo engine that will power the QX50 and other vehicles. The world’s first production-ready variable compression ratio engine was designed as an alternative to existing hybrid and diesel engines.

The 268-hp, in-line, four-cylinder VC-Turbo Variable Compression powerplant achieves superior efficiency by adapting its compression ratio to adjust for different driving conditions. It, therefore, delivers an optimal balance of performance and fuel economy while providing a high level of efficiency and torque. Additionally, the VC-Turbo is projected to be 27% more efficient than comparable V6 engines.

According to Roland Krueger, president of INFINITI Motor Company, “The pioneering VC-Turbo powertrain represents a leap forward for engine development. Vehicle engineers believe the breakthrough in internal combustion technology would come from mastering the variable compression ratio. This new technology will be available in new INFINITI models from 2018.” Continue Reading →

The 7th annual Infiniti Coaches’ Charity Challenge is back with tough competition. 48 of the top men’s college basketball coaches in the country are coming together to compete for the chance to give back. Fans, supporters, and alumni all have the chance to help their favorite coach win money for their favorite charities.

Between this month and March, there will be four rounds of eliminations. It’s up to voters to determine who stays in the competition by voting for their favorite coach each day. After each voting period ends, the coaches’ with the least amount of votes will not advance to the next round. Each coach that makes it past an elimination will increase the amount of money to be donated. The last coach standing in March will receive $100,000 for the cause of their choice. Fans who vote are also eligible to win prizes that include gifts such as autographed shoes and basketballs.

Some of the coaches competing this year are UCLA’s Steve Alford, Wichita State’s Gregg Marshall, and last year’s winner, University of Michigan’s John Beilein who donated his earnings to The ChadTough Foundation. This year brings new faces as Temple University’s Fran Dunphy, Chris Mullin of St. John’s University, and more are set to participate. Some of the charities the coaches are competing for include Coaches vs. Cancer, Alzheimer’s Association, and Children’s Miracle Network. Though only one coach gets to donate the grand prize of $100,000, each charity will receive a $1,000 donation.

Infiniti is a proud Official Corporate Partner of the NCAA® and the National Association of Basketball Coaches. To vote and stay on top of the leaderboard, visit the 2017 Infiniti Coaches Charity Challenge site. May the best coach win.

Top 10 Ways To Have The Ultimate Tailgate Party

The Fall football season is just around the corner. If you’re a rabid Ohio State Buckeye fan as we are here at Germain INFINITI of Easton, your preferred Columbus INFINITI dealer, then we’ll bet you’re already making plans to throw the most awesome tailgate parties ever.

But before you clean your BBQ grill, stock up on burgers, hot dogs, frosty beverages, and potato salad, check out our handy “how-to” guide with 10 steps for creating the ultimate tailgate experience.

  1. Get Organized – Spending a little time organizing your tailgate party will make it a winner. Make a list of everything you’ll need, from napkins and plates to burgers and buns. Then check off the items before packing things up.
  2. Know The Rules – Whether you’re heading to the Horseshoe or your hometown high school, be sure to find out what is permitted and what isn’t. Know if such things as alcoholic beverages, BBQ grills, and other items are allowed. By checking out the stadium’s regulations beforehand, you’ll save headaches when you arrive. Review the stadium’s parking map to find out where tailgating is permitted.
  3. Maximize Your Space – Here’s a smart tip: freeze a bunch of water bottles and use them in the cooler instead of ice. You’ll keep everything cold, save space, and won’t have to lug around heavy bags of ice.
  4. Finger Foods Work Better – Prepare a lot of bite-size finger foods in advance. They are easier to transport and handle. Most supermarkets offer pre-made party trays for just such an occasion.
  5. Time It Right – We all know that stadiums are going to be jam-packed on game day. So it’s a must to give yourself plenty of time to set up and get ready for fun. Get to the stadium about three to four hours before kickoff. To save you post-game traffic hassles, hang around awhile. Set out chairs, drinks, and leftovers and rehash the game while waiting for the traffic to clear.
