When the summer starts to heat up, it’s as good a time as any to pack up your car and head out for a summer road trip. There are plenty of great trips outside of Central Florida that will let you relax and escape some of the heat, particularly if you have the perfect traveling companion sitting in your garage. With our Honda of Ocala dealership’s wide range of versatile vehicles to fit every on-the-road circumstance you might encounter, the options are endless—especially for any adventurer looking to make some travel memories without the hassle of flying. Here’s a guide to some of the most exciting possibilities that await you on the open road this summer.
What’s the best Mother’s Day present you could give your wife or mother? We think it’s a new Honda for Mom, but as an Ocala Honda dealer near Lake City, we might be a bit biased. Here are a few amazing local Ocala events that might strike Mom’s fancy this year. Check them out!
For the Nature Addicts
Is Mom a horse lover? How about a three-and-a-half-hour tour of working horse farms, where Mom can pet, ride, and learn about race horses? Since Marion County has surpassed the bluegrass of Kentucky as the Horse Capital of the USA, there’s never a shortage of equestrians here in Florida.
To many diehard baseball fans, Spring Training in Florida is the most exciting time of the year. Last year’s stats and standings don’t matter anymore. Every team is in first place (and last place). And, even as the voices on sports radio insist they know who’s going to win it all, no one knows how the season will play out.
April is right around the corner, which means warmer weather, blooming flowers, and – of course – spring break! Another thing that April brings us is National Car Care Month. Dedicated to helping raise awareness for the maintenance and upkeep of your vehicle, we at Honda of Ocala would like to give you these three car care tips.
Orlando’s state-of-the-art Amway Center will play host to the 1st & 2nd-rounds of the 2017 NCAA Division 1 Men’s Basketball Championship on March 16 & 18. If you’re not one of the lucky few with tickets to see the games, don’t worry. There are plenty of local sports bars right here in Ocala and vicinity where you can catch every minute of the exciting NCAA hoops action.
Gator’s Dockside, 3920 SW 42nd St. Suite 101, Ocala
A warm, friendly atmosphere and plenty of huge flat-screen TVs make Gator’s Dockside a great place to watch the games. This well-known chain has many other locations, including The Villages and Gainesville.
The natives are getting restless. You can see that familiar look in their eyes. “We’re bored!” “There’s nothing to do!” These familiar sounds of summer reverberate through your house with the constant drumbeat of the same message: “We want to go someplace this summer!”
Lucky for you, you recently purchased a new 2016 Honda Odyssey Minivan from your favorite Ocala, FL Honda dealer, Honda of Ocala. Well, we couldn’t be happier about that. So to return the favor, we’d like to help your summer vacation planning with the following list of 7 sensational summer family road trip destinations. Some are tried and true destinations, while others are a bit off the beaten path, promising a new family adventure that has nothing to do with theme parks or (Gasp!) the beach. What a concept.
So take a deep breath, gather the gang around the dining room table, and let’s get started planning the perfect summer vacation getaway in your brand-new, well-equipped, versatile, and fuel-efficient Honda Odyssey.
Gulfside Highway 19, Homosassa, FL
Just a short drive from Ocala, the Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park offers a remarkable assortment of wildlife in a breathtaking natural setting. You’ll have a chance to see black bears, gators, bobcats, West Indian Manatees, and more. No Disney-like “audio-animatronics” here. These are the real deal. You can even get up close and personal with theses gentle Manatees at Crystal River.
The Old Chimney
Pensacola Scenic Bluffs Highway
You may not think of the Florida Panhandle as a vacation destination, but it actually holds some natural treasures you shouldn’t miss. The picturesque Pensacola Scenic Bluffs Highway is one of them. Did you know that these bluffs are the highest point along the entire coastline of Florida? That means they give you spectacular views overlooking Escambia Bay. Pay a visit to the Gulf Breeze Zoo, featuring more than 900 animals and 100 unique species of plants and flowers. Continue reading
It’s college hoops time. March Madness is officially here as 64 of the top Men’s Division I basketball teams in the country battle it out to reach the Final Four at the NRG Stadium in Houston, April 2 & 4. Hopes are high that new coach Mike White’s Gators will be in a good spot to gain an NCAA post-season berth in the hotly-contested SEC.
But how about UF Women’s Basketball, huh? Wow. After some tepid years helping the Gator’s Ladies’ squad, head coach Amanda Butler reloaded her coaching staff and is turning things around with one of the best won-loss records in recent memory. As a result, she has her nationally ranked team dreaming of a post-season appearance and a possible deep run into the Tournament.
So with all the college hoops excitement on tap, the question is, where are the best places in Ocala to catch all the action? Well, since we’re big Gator supporters here at your hometown new and used car Honda dealership in Ocala, we’ve put together a list of our five favorite places to watch all the pulse-pounding 2016 March Madness action in Ocala. It’s that time again when ghosts, goblins, and all types of costumed characters head out throughout Ocala in search of Halloween treats.
Halloween should be all about fun. But unfortunately, this festive holiday comes with its unique set of dangers. A parent’s worst nightmare is that their child will be injured or harmed while going door-to-door to fill their Halloween goodie bag.
Fortunately, there is an alternative to traditional trick-or-treating that is gaining in popularity. It’s called “Trunk Or Treat.” You can think of it as a “Halloween tailgate party.” Rather than having kids roam the streets at night knocking on strangers’ doors, local organizations like schools or churches invite parents to bring their cars, trucks, minivans, or SUVs to a central location. They can then safely pass out candies and goodies from the trunks of their vehicles. That is how this new Halloween tradition got its name. Continue reading
