Toyota & BMW Team Up to Reignite the Supra Flame

After the Toyota Supra was discontinued in 2002, the manufacturer was reluctant to proclaim a successor to the acclaimed sports car, ultimately handing the reins to its Celica model. Now, with the BMW Z4 approaching its own discontinuation, both Toyota and the German company have announced their collaboration on two new sports cars that have yet to be named—at least, not officially. In fact, much about these new models is unknown. Their silence has sparked debates not just at our Toyota dealership in Sarasota, but also with others across Florida and the country. What will these new models look like? Are they based on current styles? Will they be released here in America?

Here’s what we know about the newest Toyota Supra (and BMW Z4) replacements.  Continue Reading →

The 2017 Toyota Camry is Full of New Features

As the newest addition to our inventory at Germain, the 2017 Toyota Camry carries over the model’s best-selling design and performance—remember its comprehensive bumper-to-bumper facelift in 2015?—while also going an extra mile to offer owners more bang for their buck. Toting a slew of new features, both standard and optional, the newest Camry gives off feel-good vibes inside and out. What’s most impressive is the 2017 Camry’s MSRP, which is unchanged from the ‘16 model year, semantically making these features free. Rich in features yet low on price—who couldn’t get on board with that?

Available now at Germain Toyota of Sarasota, the 2017 Camry cars are ready to be taken for a test drive. Check out what’s new with the 2017 Camry lineup below, and view the new Camrys for sale at our new car dealership near Bradenton to see why America’s most popular sedan is primed for yet another breakout year.

Introducing the 2017 Camry Lineup

The new Camry lineup features four sedan trims (LE, SE, XSE, and XLE), as well as three Hybrid trims (LE, SE, XLE). All are boldly going where no Camry has gone before, bolstering Toyota’s already well-documented commitment to their customers.

Camry LE – In the base 2017 Camry LE (and across the entire Camry lineup), owners can expect standard styling and performance that’s anything but. Equipped with Toyota’s impressive 2.4L four-cylinder DOHC engine, the LE is rated at 33 highway mpg, making it as mighty a fuel-sipper as you’ll find in the segment. All-season tires are new and help the car grip the road in both wet and dry conditions. Its track is wider than years past, allowing the Camry to accelerate through twists and turns like a mongoose (or something similarly agile). The cabin is ultra-quiet thanks to sound absorption enhancements.

Other standard features found in the Camry LE include a rearview camera, TPMS, Toyota Entune infotainment system, a 6.1-inch screen, Star Safety System, and Whiplash-Injury-Lessening (WIL) seats. Continue Reading →

Florida Child Car Seat Regulations, Tips, & Resources

In a recent report, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration concluded that vehicle collisions were the leading cause of death in children aged 3 and every age from 5 to 14. At Germain Toyota of Sarasota, we’re saddened by this report, but proud that the state of Florida is combating this by bulking up its child car seat laws after years of legislation and debate.

2015’s New Child Car Seat Laws in Florida

We’re Proud to Sponsor the School-Related Employee of the Year

SARASOTA, May 6, 2016 — Each year, the Sarasota County School District celebrates the professionalism and work ethic of its employees by selecting an annual School-Related Employee of the Year. The tradition will continue for the 27th year at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 11, at Michael’s on East in Sarasota. School Board Chairwoman Shirley Brown and Superintendent of Schools Lori White will be among the speakers.

The 2016 honoree will be named from among 49 nominees selected from the approximately 2,100 support staff members who work throughout the district’s schools and departments. All nominees will be honored at the luncheon. (Click here for a list of all 49 honorees.)

After the overall School-Related Employee of the Year is announced at the luncheon, he or she will become a goodwill ambassador for the district for the following 12 months.

As with the district’s Teacher of the Year designation, many worthy support staff members vie for the title of School-Related Employee of the Year. All employees who are not teachers or administrators are eligible to be nominated, including teacher’s aides, clerical workers, bus drivers, food service workers, custodians and groundskeepers, to name a few.

Charlie Brown, the district’s 2015 School-Related Employee of the Year, will be on hand at the luncheon to pass the torch to the 2016 honoree. Brown is a school bus driver.

For the 10th consecutive year, the Lead Sponsor of the School-Related Employee of the Year program is Germain Toyota of Sarasota. Toyota Showcases “Future Of Mobility” At 2016 Detroit Auto Show

Many of us wish we could have a crystal ball or soothsayer to tell us what the future will hold. However, Toyota has already gone a step further at the 2016 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit by pulling back the curtain on a remarkable array of futuristic mobility technology and engineering that will someday dramatically change the way the world gets from “Point A” to “Point B.”

Driving The Automotive Future Forward

In addition to displaying today’s full range of new Toyota vehicles, the automaker gave attendees and automotive journalists a tantalizing glimpse into a world where hydrogen fuel, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and a new generation of hyper-connected vehicles will transform our roadways. Much of this groundbreaking new technology is being developed at the new Toyota Research Institute (TRI), an incubator for these amazing new concepts.

2016 Prius Liftback

One of the most promising new technologies Toyota debuted at this year’s Detroit Auto Show is an entirely new form of satellite-based automotive communication. In partnership with Kymeta Corporation, Toyota displayed a unique Mirai fuel-cell vehicle (FCV) with this new “flat antenna” technology that could allow tomorrow’s vehicles to communicate directly with orbiting satellites for the first time.

According to Nathan Kundtz, CEO of Kymeta, this new “Spectrum Antenna” uses liquid crystals and proprietary software to track and lock on to orbital satellites automatically for uninterrupted, high-capacity data streaming. Toyota’s Senior Managing Officer Shigeki Tomoyama stated that the company has been aggressively pursuing this extraordinary new communications technology that historically has required a bulky fixed-position dish similar to those used to receive satellite-based television programming.

Toyota’s Vision For A Sustainable Tomorrow

The automaker also presented its unique FCV+ concept vehicle that exemplifies Toyota’s vision for a more sustainable and connected global society that relies on abundant, non-polluting hydrogen fuel. The concept vehicle can use an external source of hydrogen fuel to use as a source of electric power at home or on the go.

Flexing its green-technology muscles, Toyota also introduced the all-new 2016 Prius Liftback. Toyota takes its proven hybrid technology further than ever with the stunning new Prius Liftback’s bold new design, improved fuel economy, and enhanced driver comfort.

Redefining How We Interact With Cars

Toyota KIKAI Concept Vehicle

Toyota also gave attendees a look at KIKAI, a whimsical concept vehicle that shatters the traditional notion of what an automobile should be, as well as how people will relate to it. KIKAI pays tribute to the “craftsmanship, beauty, simplicity, and motion” of man-made machines. Continue Reading →

The new 2016 Toyota 4Runner at your local Toyota dealership in Sarasota, Germain Toyota of Sarasota, combines legendary off-road capabilities and rugged good looks with a stylish interior packed with advanced technology. Celebrating its 30th anniversary, the 2016 4Runner’s off-road bloodline runs deep, making it the go-to off-road SUV of choice for those who take their journey of adventure seriously.

For more than three decades, the Toyota 4Runner has epitomized what a true off-roading SUV should look like. The new 4Runner TRD Pro continues this rough-and-tumble legacy with an aggressive, no-nonsense exterior that’s ready for action. As Bengt Halvorson, editor of puts it, “The 4Runner is authentic, and that’s part of what makes its rugged style work so well. It’s not just an image conjured up for marketing purposes; this truck family has had the same basic wagon shape for years. The beltline is high, the proportions are chunky, and the downward slope of the rear pillars are a direct callback to models going back three decades or more.”

Uncommon Interior Comfort

The TRD Pro’s spacious interior doesn’t scrimp on creature comforts. In fact, the TRD’s cabin features firmly bolstered seats swathed in red-stitched SoftTex® material. With premium materials, available leather steering wheel and leather seating surfaces, enhanced Entune™ Audio System with navigation, streaming audio, apps, and more, the TRD may look tough on the outside, but it offers premium comfort on the inside.
