The leaves are starting to turn, and there’s a brisk nip in the air. As we put the warm summer in our rearview mirror here in Columbus, it’s time to set our sights on fall. With cooler weather on the way, this is our opportunity to experience all that Columbus Ohio has to offer before the cold reality of winter prevents us from doing all the things we like to do.

Columbus Museum Of Art – Columbus is fortunate to have one of the country’s finest art museums. There are many special exhibitions on display at the newly renovated and expanded museum during the fall. These include Picasso: The Great War, Experimentation, and Change (through Sept. 11); the “Learning To Look” Tour on Sept. 17 where trained docents show you how to interpret art; and “Wednesdays @ 2,” a behind-the-scenes perspective on current exhibitions with special guest speakers.

Scioto Mile

Cruise The Scioto Mile – With 33 acres of new riverfront parkland to enjoy, the Scioto Mile offers a variety of sights and sounds to experience this fall, including the largest free climbing wall in the country at the Scioto Audubon Metropark.

Columbus Zoo

Columbus Zoo & Aquarium – The cooler fall months are the perfect time to visit Columbus’ world-class and critically acclaimed zoo. Now through Labor Day is the time to bid farewell to Nora, the zoo’s beloved polar bear who will be leaving to go to the Oregon Zoo. You can also enjoy Jack Hanna’s Fall Fest, Saturday, Sept. 17. See Jack live on stage, along with special activities, attractions, entertainment, and other exciting happenings.

Center of Science and Industry (COSI) – As one of the nation’s most respected science centers, COSI offers more than 300 interactive exhibits and displays. Don’t miss National Parks 3D Adventure, Game Masters, The Exhibition, BBC Earth’s Wild Africa 3D, and Our Universe, Cosmic Fireworks. Adults can enjoy “COSI After Dark,” with special themed activities and a cash bar.

Microbrewery

Visit A Microbrewery – Did you know that Columbus is home to more than 30 microbreweries? Many are offering their fall brews. The “Columbus Ale Trail” is a great way to sample the latest fall beer selections. Several of these microbreweries are located near Columbus’ Short North Arts District.

Stroll Short North – Speaking of Short North, fall is a great time to enjoy all that this hip, historical, and trendy arts and restaurant district has to offer before it’s too cold to venture outside. Known as the “Art & Soul” of Columbus, Short North is an epicenter for music, dining, entertainment, shopping, and more. Enjoy the Short North Arts District Food Tour on Sept. 16 when you’ll have a chance to sample some of the district’s finest cuisine from select restaurants.

Take In The Arena District – Downtown’s Arena District is a vibrant melting pot of outstanding restaurant and bars, shops, and entertainment venues. The focal point of the Arena District is the ultramodern Nationwide Arena, home of the Columbus Blue Jackets. Ohio’s premier entertainment venue is where you’ll find a spectacular fall calendar of the hottest names and biggest acts. Some notable upcoming events include the Dixie Chicks on Sept. 16, the Kellogg Tour of Gymnastic Champions on Oct. 22nd, and the start of the Blue Jackets’ 2016 season with pre-season games against the St. Louis Blues on Sept. 25 and the Nashville Predators on Sept. 29.
