Secrets to Buying a Car

Are you in the market for a new ride? Most car buyers tend to buy cars towards the end of the month in the hopes that dealers are desperate to meet sales goals. Truth is, car dealers have different specials and holiday sales happening during different times of the month. In order to get a great deal on a car, you have to know when the best time to buy is. Here are a few times when it’s in your best interest to buy a new car.

Your Current Car is Costly to Own

You know it’s time to buy a new car when repair costs on your current car start getting hefty. One week you need a new oil filter, the next you have problems with your radiator. In addition to that, your gas mileage keeps deteriorating. If you’re facing these problems, it might be time to get yourself a new ride.

You Have Done Enough Research

The best time to buy a car is when you have thought it through. Since buying a car is one of the biggest purchases you make, it’s a good idea to do some research before buying. Take some time to compare different options and prices. Look at the dealer incentives and evaluate if it’s better for you to lease or buy based on your budget. This will help you be more level headed when you visit the dealership.

You Know What You Can Afford

Knowing where your budget stands will come in handy when it comes to making a good decision on a car. Be sure to calculate your credit score and consider your daily and monthly expenses when coming up with a budget. This will give you a better idea of how much you can afford for the down payment and monthly payments.  The more you know your finances, the safer you are from buyer’s remorse.

There Are Specials or Holiday Sales

The end of the year is fast approaching, which means the cold season is just around the corner. On a happier note, there are holiday sales and winter specials to look forward to. The festive season is one of the best times to buy the car. With most people focused on Christmas shopping, you can enjoy hassle free car shopping and score on some great deals.

Older Models Are Being Phased Out

Automakers introduce new car models annually. This motivates a dealership to get rid of current models to make room for the newer models. You’re more likely to get great deals on 2014 vehicle specials than on all-new 2015 models in some scenarios. Be sure to keep an eye out for new model releases in order to take advantage of clearance sales.

Keep an eye out for new vehicle specials at Champion Mazda. We offer a wide range of 2014 vehicle specials such as the 2014 Mazda CX-9 and 2014 Mazda5. Be sure to visit us at 765 Carlisle Street Hanover, PA 17331 or give us a call at 888-496-8223.

5 Tips for a Safer Back to School Season

Does your heart sink when you think of back to school time? We understand. With all the shopping and scheduling, preparing for the back-to-school period can get pretty draining. Whether you are getting things ready for the kids, or preparing for your trip back to campus, getting your Mazda ready is essential.

We know back-to-school time can get busy and car care is usually not at the top of your to-do list. We get it; keeping up with car maintenance can be pretty tedious. That’s why we came up with a list of simple car care tips to help make your car care process simpler. Also, you can save money on costly repairs by following these simple tips:

BTS Mazda

Most car problems start from under the hood. We suggest opening your Mazda’s hood and checking the following:

  • Fluid levels – Get your engine oil, coolant, brake and power steering fluids inspected before hitting the road. Refer to your owner’s manual to find out where everything is located and the recommended levels to maintain.
  • Battery – Is your battery more than three years old? The older your battery is, the more likely it is to fail. Be sure to get your battery cleaned and detailed to check for signs of wear and tear. The last thing you want is a dead battery in the carpool lane!
  • Tires – Changes in temperature affect your tire pressure. Colder seasons are the hardest on your tires. Air pressure significantly decreases with every 10-degree change in temperature, it’s especially important to keep up with air pressure checks.
  • Heating – If you are experiencing heating failure, it’s most likely because of a coolant leak or engine block. To find the root of the problem, get your heater hoses checked for signs of wear and tear.
  • Brakes – During the busy school season everyone is in a rush to drop the kids off and get to work on time. Be sure to get your brake pads inspected for you and your family’s safety. If you notice unusual sounds or if your Mazda shakes while braking, this calls for immediate action.

We know getting ready for the school season can get hectic. When it comes to car care, you can count on Champion Mazda to take the load off your shoulders. Whether you drive a Mazda2, Mazda5 or Mazda6, our factory trained service experts got you covered. Visit us 765 Carlisle Street Hanover, PA 17331 or call 888 496 8223 to schedule a service appointment.

Giving Your Teenager the Independence to Drive

Education is the key to unlock the golden door of freedom. ~ George Washington Carver

Letting your teen drive their first car is a big step. Letting go of the leashes and allowing your teen to go out on their own is not always easy. The 4th of July is just around the corner, so why not celebrate Independence Day by giving your teen the liberty to drive your beloved Mazda. Are the statistics of teen driving fatalities getting to your head? There’s no shame in worrying for your teen; but, don’t let fear get in the way of the inevitable. If your teen is going to drive at some point, it might as well be under your supervision. Give your teen the power to drive responsibly and share some safe driving tips with him or her. We’ve compiled a list of new teen-driver do’s and don’ts to help you get started.

Safe Driving Tips for Teens

Do Avoid Distracted Driving

Distracted driving is the most common cause of car accidents involving teen drivers. Although texting and driving is a main factor, it’s not the only form of distracted driving. Distractions such as reading maps or using the navigation system while driving distract your concentration on the road. When traveling at speeds of 55mph, your car can travel about 403 feet in 5 seconds. If five seconds is the average amount of time your teen’s eyes are off the road while texting, the risk of crashing is increased by three times.

Don’t Go Over the Speed Limit

To prevent your teen from exploiting their new freedom, talk to them about the dangers of speeding. Speeding is the cause of more than half of reported fatal crashes involving teen drivers. Many of these crashes occur on regular street roads rather than busy interstate highways. Encourage your teen to pay attention to road signs and speed limits. One way to do this is by riding shotgun for a couple of weeks to observe your teens driving habits. While you’re at it, take this time as an opportunity to offer constructive criticism to lead your teen in the right direction.

Do Drive With Caution

Most parents worry that their teens never listen to them. On the contrary, when it comes to driving you should worry that your teen is watching your habits. Setting a good example is a lifelong task. Keep your cool behind the wheel of your Mazda and encourage your teen to do the same. Did you know? Aggressive driving accounts for about 56% of fatal crashes? Discouraging your teen from racing and tailgating other drivers at an early stage will pay off in the long run. When driving with your teen, intentionally give other drivers way in order to set a good example.

Summertime is fun-time for many teens. Give your teen one summer they’ll never forget by giving them the independence to drive. With these do’s and don’ts your teen will have the necessary tools to drive safely.

Preparation for the Trip

Traveling with Kids

Now that you have your journey planned out it’s time to prepare for the long trip ahead. Road trips are memorable experiences, but sometimes those memories are not always positive. The best way to avoid the memory of a broken down car or traveling with grumpy kids is prevention. Preparation is your number one weapon against a bad road trip experience. Here are a few tips to help minimize the stresses of traveling with kids:

Set a Budget – Kids have their way of getting what they want. As you know by now, saying no to your rugrats isn’t always easy. When coming up with a budget consider the cost of food, cost of lodging and cost of gas. Setting a realistic budget will help you prevent overspending.

Make it Fun – Kids easily get bored during long car rides. The best way to keep them from getting grumpy is keeping them entertained. The more fun and games you have in the car, the less complaining you’ll have to deal with.

Maintain your Car – Schedule your Mazda5 for a check-up before traveling. Minivans tend to burn fuel faster during the summer time. To keep your gas mileage at optimum levels, schedule a tune-up to make sure your car parts and fluids stay in good condition.

Stop by Hanover’s local dealer, Champion Mazda, to get your car serviced. We offer a wide range of repair and maintenance services to get your Mazda5 ready for summer driving. Whether you need an oil change or a simple tire inspection, Champion Mazda has you covered. We are located in the heart of Hanover, PA at 765 Carlisle Street. Call us today 1-888-496-8223!
